Science Cases

1. Cross correlating SWIRE and FIRST by querying the object catalogues, to study star-forming galaxies and AGN. Compute photometric redshifts for the objects. Cross correlation with SDSS and 6dF spectroscopy. [ Ian Waddington, Richard Savage ]
2. Query HST archive for images covered by SWIRE, run SExtractor on retrieved HST and SWIRE images, cross match catalogues and classify objects according to SEDs. Compute photometric redshifts for the objects. [ Marie Lemoine-Busserolle, Matthew Hilton, Paresh Prema ]

Bugs

1. TOPCAT : login box supplies misleading username, and blocks if the username is incorrect.
2. workflow editor: copy & paste on a step links the new step and the old step - changes made to one appear in the other.
3. TOPCAT : myspace doesn't refresh, no way to force this without logging out.
4. portal myspace microbrowser: doesn't refresh - found while adding a parameter to a workflow.
5. workflow editor: footer bar appears in the middle of the browser window. stays fixed relative to the page, rather than the window.
6. CEA: doesn't clean up old workspaces - sextractor in jodrell runs out of disk space quickly
7. workflow builder: after deleting an optional parameter, there's no way to get it back again.

Annoyances

1. Workflow Editor :Constantly having to press 'submit' on the web interface to save changes to workflow
2. TOPCAT: would be nice to pick up login from workbench (single sign on)

Suggestions

1. portal: Automatic file extensions when saving into myspace (i.e. fill in .vot, etc)
2. query builder: possible to have more than one open at a time.
3. GUI tool for building queries.
4. Lovely to be able to build queries in emacs, then load into the builder
5. is it possible to put comments in a workflow?
6. workflow editor: Have a nice big 'save' button on the workflow editor. - rather than having to do menu > dialogue > choose filename every time.

8. workflow editor : popup warning if user tries to browse away from a workflow that hasn't been updated.
9. workflow editor: nice if filename defaulted to previously used filename. (same should apply to query builder too)
10. query builder: nice to have an indication of whether the current query has been saved yet.
11. workflow editor: show the filename of the workflow being edited.
12. options to be emailed when certain workflow steps start.
13. Access to all data releases from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.
14. Want 2DF Galaxy redshift survey, plus other 2DF surveys.
15. easier way to link astrogrid services to desktop applications (e.g. IDL). Calling into astrogrid services from IDL.

Comments

1. need to work on anything that will reduce number of keystrokes / mouse clicks - especially reduce number of subbmits needed in web interface.
