Logistics

Network

  • 2 Ethernet sockets are available, and we can plug our hubs in. Update 7March - the Whitla is now on a 100MBit switch, with a 100MBit link to the campus backbone. That should be upgraded to 3x100MBit uplink next week. (do we need to provide MAC addresses?)

  • Wireless is available (assuming that you have asked for wireless access at registration) - Gary is checking whether port 8080 is open on the wireless.

  • Resilience - it might be worth putting a pre-prepared /etc/hosts file (or OS equivalent) on demo machines with IP addresses of AstroGrid servers (both ours and VO enabled data providers we may demo against), just in case QUB DNS servers slow or suffer an outage. -- GaryGilchrist - 05 Mar 2008

Equipment

  • 2 monitors, at least 2 hubs, switches, cables, VGA splitter, power splitters, table cloths, extensions - All shipped by Gary to Mark Wells on Tuesday 18 March (to arrive in Swindon at least 1 week before NAM).

NAM info

  • Talk abstracts deadline: Friday 29th February 2008
