AstroGrid Science Workshop and RadioNet/AstroGrid workshop for radio data providers
Oxford w/c 4 December 2006
Objectives
This linked pair of workshops are aimed at astronomers, software developers and other scientists who are
- interested in using VO tools for scientific research to compare and process data from all parts of the e-m spectrum, and/or
- involved with radio archives and large surveys or other data collections and pipelines.
You are welcome to attend either or both workshops. Total attendance is restricted to c. 30 participants for any one session. Priority for 1. will be given to anyone also attending 2. and to people from Oxford.
The exact agenda will be modified in response to the demands of those registering
providing we are notified early so please register as soon as possible to ensure a place meeting your needs.

Workshop Dinner and lunches
Please indicate if you are coming to the Dinner in the final Registration column above. There will be vegetarian options at this and all lunches but if you have any stricter requirements please let us know. Other evening meals are not provided but tehre are many restaurants and food shops within a few minutes of the Department.
- The Dinner is on 7.30 pm Wednesday 6 December at Al-Shami 25 Walton Street Oxford OX1 2JG, a Lebanese restaurant about 15 minutes walk from the Department.
- It will consist of starter, main course (see Menu) plus a modest amount of wine (and of course a bar for those for whom it is insufficient...).

Computing requirements
This is a hands-on workshop. The requirements include:
All sessions
- A laptop.
- The AstroGrid Workbench can be run on most modern flavors of Mac and Windows as well as Linux but please check beforehand that you can run it on your laptop. You will also need to have python 2.3 or newer (comes with most standard o/s) if you want to use AstroGrid to run scripts on your lap/desktop or parselTongue.
- Ethernet
- The laptop must have a working port for wired ethernet connection for full participation.

Registration is free and tea, coffee and lunch will be provided courtesy of
AstroGrid. Participants who are not
AstroGrid or RadioNet employees should initially seek travel and subsistence from their home institute, but if this does not cover all costs there is a fixed RadioNet budget to support participants from institutes in affiliated countries. Please inquire to
