The AstroGrid Science Advisory Group (AG-SAG) Terms of Reference
Provide independent and scientifically informed advice to the AstroGrid Project on behalf of AstroGrid's user community. The advice covers areas such as:
scientific utilisation of the AstroGrid Virtual Observatory
advising the project on ranking of scientific priorities informing (during each development iteration) the development of capabilities to satisfy the general Science Requirements of the project. (see RbScienceRequirementsSummary)
technical issues as they affect end users (e.g. comments on user interfaces, functionality provision, access to data products etc).
deployment of the AstroGrid Virtual Observatory and take up through e.g. the beta tester programme
Advise the Project as to longer term science priorities for the UK's Virtual Observatory development.
The AG-SAG shall be composed of active researchers representing the core AstroGrid communities: Astronomy, Solar Physics and Solar and Terrestrial Physics.
The AG-SAG shall appoint a Chair from its members. The Chair shall hold office for the lifetime of the current project (end 2004).
The AstroGrid Project Scientist shall act as secretary to the AG-SAG
The expenses of members attending AG-SAG meetings shall be met by the AstroGrid project.
