Breakout Sessions

Attendees formed two groups, each including both astronomers and technicians, to consider improvements in usability and support of the system. Each group made notes:

• Group 1: Usability and Support
• Group 2: Usability and Support

and summarised to the Consortium Meeting as a whole starting at 15:15.

Usability could (but is not restricted to) include:

• Documentation
• User Interface
• Training
• 80/20 users and 20/80 users

Support could (but is not restricted to) include:

• Documentation
• Communications
• Systems administration
• Service Level Agreements (SLA)

Rail

The nearest station to Jodrell Bank is Goostrey at ~3 km (or a few more trains stop at Holmes Chapel, ~8 km). We will meet (tbd) if requested in advance or you can call a taxi (Nos... NB small villages, book in advance if possible especially if you are likely to clash with the school run. If station phone box not working try pub - in both cases turn right out of station.)

Convenient local connections are listed here, please indicate your arrival if you want us to arrange a lift or pre-booked taxi.

You can get trains from Manchester Airport to any of these stations; direct trains are usually quicker than a taxi as well as much cheaper.

We will arrange departure taxis.

Road

Directions for arrival by car and other local information. At the site, follow the right-hand lane marked Staff Only. If you drive up to barriers they raise automatically.

Accommodation

If you need overnight accomodation please email Janet Eaton (je@jbNOSPAM.man.ac.uk) stating your arrival and departure dates. We have provisionally booked 25 rooms for one night, 5 December, in:

The Wilmslow Lodge £49.95 per person plus breakfast
Premier Travel Inn, Alderley Edge £50.95 plus breakfast.

Meeting Equipment

A limited number of wired DHCP connections will be available. Note that wireless communication from laptops and all mobile phones must be switched off while at Jodrell Bank because they cause radio interference. If you want to make a phone call we can provide a phone (and privacy if required).

There will be vegetarian options but if you have any special requirements please email Anita Richards (amsr@jbNOSPAM.man.ac.uk).

The Project Meeting Dinner will be on Mon 5 December at Est Est Est, 75 London Road, Alderley Edge, SK9 7DY just a few minutes walk North of the hotel in Alderley Edge. Please sign up when you register

Dinner 7.30 pm. If you want a lift from Jodrell Bank please meet in foyer at 7 pm.
