AstroGrid External Collaborations and Contacts

AstroGrid, or members of the AstroGrid project, work with or interact with a number of external projects or groups. The level of engagement varies.

• Astronomical Data/Tool providers
  • AstroGrid interacts with a number of Astronomy related bodies and organisations, covering areas such as astronomy data providers (from telescopes, projects etc), developers of data tools, and data archives UK data providers and data centres. Links and contacts are provided from the ContactsPage
• Funding bodies
  • AstroGrid is funded by Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council.
• Astronomy related eScience projects
  • AstroGrid is a member of the EU funded Astrophysical Virtual Observatory consortium.
  • AstroGrid is a founder/member of the International Virtual Observatory Alliance^?. AndyLawrence, TonyLinde and NicholasWalton are members of the IVOA's executive, NicholasWalton is the current secretary.
  • AstroGrid interacts with the EU IST European Grid of Solar Observations (EGSO) project of which BobBentley is programme coordinator.
  • AstroGrid's ChrisPerry is a key participant of ESA's SPACEGRID project.
  • AstroGrid's FionnMurtagh is leader of the EU COST iAstro initiative.
• Generic eScience and technology projects
  • AstroGrid, together with MyGrid, have been selected as 'early adopters' of the UK's core eScience deployment programme, OGSA-DAIS.
  • AndyLawrence and BobMann are the key points of contact of the AstroGrid involvement with the eDIKT project, funded by the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council and located out of the NeSC.
  • NicholasWalton is a member of the Cambridge eScience Centre's management board
