Final Announcement

30 Nov 2006

Thank-you for registering for the AstroGrid/RadioNet workshop.

Please can you check that your Registration details are correct and
let me know if you want to come to the Workshop Dinner on 6 December.

PREPARATION

Please check the Agenda(s) for the sessions you are attending at:
 Science with AstroGrid
 http://wiki.astrogrid.org/bin/view/Astrogrid/AgOxfordWorkshopDec06
 Radio Data
 http://wiki.astrogrid.org/bin/view/Astrogrid/RadioAgenda
especially if you are intending to give a presentation

All participants are expected to bring a laptop capable of running the
required software (and/or logging in to do so at your home
insititute).

See
http://wiki.astrogrid.org/bin/view/Astrogrid/AgRadionetWorkshopDec06#Computing_requirements
and the link to additional requirements for data providers.

We strongly recommend that you attempt to run the AstroGrid workbench
in advance and also to install parselTongue if you want to use this;
at worst this will save time debugging any problems.

We can help with installation and use of VO components and
parselTongue. Unfortunately there will not be time to help with the
installation of routine astronomical or other software such as AIPS or
MySQL so please make sure that you have access to anything you need
(AstroGrid will provide a test database if you've requested this).

But.. don't panic! Do contact us if you have software problems, and in
any case you will be working in small groups, so if you are unable to
use a particular package you can make notes based on someone else's
activity - as long as everone has most things they need working!

ARRIVAL

The Denys Wilkinson Building, Oxford Astrophysics is open access
from 0830 - 1300 and 1400 - 1630 Mon-Fri. We expect that most people
will arrive during these times but if you need to get in at other
times during the Workshop hours (e.g. at lunchtime) and there is
no-one on reception please ring Anita (see below).

Registration will take place on the 5th Floor
0900-0930 on Monday 4 December
1300-1400 on Tuesday 5 December
or by seeing the organisers at other times.

SUPPORT

Please let Anita know if you are unable to get full financial support from
your institute and want to know if you are eligible for RadioNet support.

WORKGROUPS
In each part of the workshop, you will divide into 3-4 groups to
tackle VO-related problems. Please think about what you would like to
do. Here are some suggestions, open to ammendment.
Each workgroup will also need someone to make a final presentation,
and someone to make notes on the wiki.

* Science

AgOxfordSciDec06GroupA
Star formation - identifying candidate SFR (galactic or
extra-galactic) based on colours and other properties, spectral
information.

AgOxfordSciDec06GroupB
Microquasars and pulsars - multi-wavelength properties, time domain

AgOxfordSciDec06GroupC
Radio galaxies and their environments: multi-wavelength properties,
radio images, redshift maker.

* Radio Data

AgOxfordRadioDec06GroupA
Catalogue publishing

AgOxfordRadioDec06GroupB
Pipelining data from the telescope, flagging, archiving, VO access

AgOxfordRadioDec06GroupC
User-steered pipelines and VO interfaces

Thank-you all again for you interest, I look forkward to working with
you all next week.
