ID/Position
In extra-solar observational-based science cases like this, position
is usually used as the basic identification for objects and cone
searches are used to
look for counterparts for the object. However some
DataSets
contain standard catalogue ID numbers (or even names) of objects
e.g. Gleise 229b and the SIMBAD name resolver can be used to turn
these into positions. Direct matching on ID is probably faster
where this is possible and avoids ambiguities e.g. due to proper motions.
