Installation scripts

These are the install instructions I use for some of the AstroGrid services.

The instructions read like unix shell scripts, but at the moment they still require manual intervention. The best way to use them is to copy/paste the commands into a Unix shell, and add the manual edits as required.

I'm gradually refactoring them into a set of shell scripts that can be run without human intervention. Eventually, I'd like to end up with scripts that can be run from within a rpm install.

Notes :

  • The version numbers used in the instructions may be out of date.
  • Please contact someone from the AstroGrid team to check for the latest release versions.

  • The JDK and Tomcat instructions are for JDK-1.4 only.
  • We are in the process of migrating our services to JDK-1.5, and I will update these instructions once we have discovered all the wrinkles

  • The Community install does not cover how to configure the new myproxy service.

  • The Registry install is suitable for a local publishing registry, not a full query registry.
  • A full query registry should probably run the eXist database as a separate process.
