Itn06 Progress

• Itn06 will require cross matching against IR photomoetry from e.g. UKIDSS, 2MASS to discriminate between contaminants and qso's.
  • Fan et al, 2003 describe the search parameters in the optical(uses i,z bands) and IR regime(uses J band but could also use H and K).
    • i-z>2.2 see Fan_etal_2003_Fig1; J-z

• Discriminate between QSO's and Brown Dwarfs

• Reddening vector

Breakpoint once sample is confirmed, spectroscopic observations of the sample are obtained to confirm object type, redshift of object etc.

Issues

• to account for the varying spatial resolutions of the differing wavelength data sets, it will be important to regrid (or smooth) data to the same resolution.
• extraction apertures are required to be the same for extractions of photometry from differing wavebands

Applications

• Swarp - see http://terapix.iap.fr/rubrique.php?id_rubrique=49 - can be used for resampling of images. This package is developed by Terapix, and is similar in style to Sextractor
• SExSeg may become available to allow sextractor runs using predefined detection and apertures - see http://acs.pha.jhu.edu/science/papers/abstracts/coeaas0104.html
