Summary

JVO meeting (Keith)

• Very productive
• Focus on workflow & JES and skynode (Yuji)
• JVO implemented similar workflow
  • Interested in Phil's wflow builder: will use
• Masatoshi keen to agree wflow language
  • Based on BPEL probably but + asynch
• Yuji has synch skynode toolkit
  • Useful if we need to implement basic skynode
• Great improvements on relationships

GGF (Keith)

• Only at Astro-RG
• Cleared up skyquery confusion
• Andy: any convergence by IVOA and GGF?

IVOA Interop (Guy)

• More group politics vs personal agendas

• Trip to Japan
  • they want to lift our workflow editor. It'd be a lot of work for us to adapt it to their system - but might be worthwhile politically.
  • Met Omar Rana (from Cardiff) who's done a review of all the workflow engines out there. We should talk to him about best choices for our next workflow language. (i.e. do we reimplement JES as planned? is there something else?) and also whether there's any quick- wins to be had (e.g. integrating CEA with Taverna - which, interestingly, is close to what some of the SAMPO people are almost doing).

  • Ray Plante expressed an interest in searching the registry for fits-reader client-side apps to display on DataScope . WSA would also be interested I think. All a bit speculative at the moment.

  • Matthew interested in breeding from CEA/NESSI interface under the UWS umbrella

  • JDT spent Monday following meeting working with Patrick Dowler
    • Installed a CEA and hello world app. Would be interested in using CEA to access http://www.westgrid.ca/home.html Needs auth/auth to be there first
    • Have plenty of data to dish up but much of it proprietary - need auth/auth in DSA, and probably want to wait till asynch son-of-Skynode settles
    • Would like to use PLASTIC in his Client-side app (jdt will follow up)
