I think we might need to have a design that leaves a certain amount of room for user customisation. I think the important thing is that we define a minimum set of elements that the design must have - thus AstroGrid logo.

In terms of having a backdrop graphic for posters of presentations, the recent NVO design (see NVO posters at ASAXX XIII) is effective, perhaps we need to look at investing in some graphic design effort to create something analagous for the AstroGrid project.

Philosphically I'd rather have talks from AstroGrid staff at institutes X, Y, Z using their prefered institute styles, but indicating that it was an AstroGrid talk via perhaps logo attribution, than using a rigid 'AstroGrid' style. We want to give the impression that we are embedded in mainstream astronomy, in a pervasive way, rather than being seen as a separate entity.

Having said all that, if people find it convenient to use the style files provided here, that's fine.
