- screenshot of Registry Explorer:
Search Field
Enter a term to search for. Plain text can be used. When the search button is hit, the parsed interpretation of this text is shown at the bottom in the status bar. Search terms use the
SimpleRegistryQueryLanguage .
Filter Field
An incremental search box. type a phrase to filter the list of results shown.
The filtering operates on the fields of the resource.
Filters Table
Allows further filtering of the results (itunes-style) through a 3-stage pipeline.
From the drop-down list on the left hand side (the first stage of the pipeline), choose a criteria. The list below will update to show all values for that criteria that are present in the set of results.
click on a criteria value to filter the results to those that match this value. Shift-click (might vary by platform) to add additional values to the filter. CTRL-Click (may vary) to remove values from the filter.
As the selection in the left-hand list changes, the set of available filters in the other 2 stages of the pipeline update. Select items in these lists to filter the set of resources further.
Criteria
The following criteria are currently implemented.
- Type : gives the type of the service (@xsi:type, mapped to scientist friendly name, where possible)
- Content - Subject : gives the values of the
content/subject field. At moment, many of AstroGrid's registry resources contain space or comma delimited subjects within a single element, which is incorrect - a separate element shouldl be used for each.
- Content - Type : gives the values in the
content/type field. This is patchily filled in.
- Service - Capability : gives the values in the
service/capability field - only available for resources that are services, in which case these values indicate (a little) what kind of service it is.
- Coverage - Waveband: gives the values in the
coverage/spectral/waveband field - not applicable to all resources, and often not provided, even when it should be.
- Coverage - Level: gives the values in the
content/contentLevel field.
- Authority: lists the authority part of the resource id - gives an indication of the origin of the resource.
- Publisher: lists the publishers of the resources - the values of curation/publisher
- Creator: lists the creators of the resources - the values of curation/creator/name
- UCD: lists the column ucds for tabular resouces, where provided.
if a resource provided no relevant informaiton for one of these criteria, a 'none provided' item is added to the list. In this case, we should encourage the user to contact the curator for this resource to enhance the metadata
