This page and its linked pages are for holding notes and discussions regarding the final releases we will make during 2009 as we wrap up AstroGrid. All project members are welcome to contribute.

General Principles

(1) We aim to "gift wrap" AstroGrid products so that astronomers, deployers, other worldwide VO projects, and UK successor projects can use them easily, and for as long as possible.

(2) We will make it easy for successor projects (eg VOTC:UK) to take over and develop components.

(3) No major functional changes are planned.

(4) User software will be completed, tested, made robust, and documented.

(5) Infrastructure components will be completed, tested, made robust, and documented, including installation guidance. The "deployer" web site will be updated to be as friendly and professional as the astronomer web site.

(6) AstroGrid services will be made as robust as possible, so that the consortium can continue to run these services for the benefit of end-users, with the minimum of effort.

Original Plan

You may be amused to be reminded of our original AG3 plan, before the STFC review threw us into uncertainty.
