Science Documents To Do

The purpose of this page is for us to keep track of where we are at with the Science Documentation and what still needs to be done. Please edit this page with changes as you see fit.

Getting Started - NAW

Introduction: Data Access - AMSR

  • Data discovery
    • Update instructions when new resource browser etc. is released
    • Add more brief description/links in table of available data sets (e.g. like IPHAS link, or just spell out acronyms/state wavelength domain).
  • Tools developed for specific data sets
    • Only Merlin Imager so far, more examples needed
      • Suggest moving this to Data Access: Examples - will do so unless anyone objects
  • UKIDSS Catalogues worksheet
    • "Page is in preparation" - Needs to be padded out to a proper page.
      • In progress

Notes from Telecon: Can you think of some areas where we might have some examples of data access - and either compose these or ask someone else to do so).

Introduction: Data Analysis - EGS

  • Extracting objects from images
    • No page actually exists for this at the moment.
  • Catalogue cross-match
    • Very little text - needs padding out.

Science Examples: Cosmology - NAW/JAT

  • No information on page.
  • No science cases.
  • No example tutorials.

Notes from Telecon: Jonathan, if you have some time could you contribute in this area - something on searches to help with the GRBs would be good.

Science Examples: Galaxies - EGS

  • Page has little information.
  • Needs more case studies.

Science Examples: Stars - DKW

  • No information on page.
  • No science cases.
  • Needs more tutorials.

Science Examples: Solar System - SD

  • Case studies should be written as individual pages.
    • "Obtaining list of solar x-ray fluxes"
    • "Retrieving a list of TRACE observations"

Miscellaneous Tutorials - DKW

  • Additional examples needed.

Notes from Telecon: Could you think of which might be useful, you can ask the others for help in getting them put together.

Documentation - AMSR/SD

Notes from Telecon: I think most of this is fine - but some of the graphics need updating to reflect the new myspace browser. The section that needs more input I think is the scripting topic.

  • STILTS - is mentioned in the crossmatching help page, but it would be useful to have a page introducing the STILTS tool interface and the required syntax of a few examples, with a prominent link to the full documentation of course. Any takers? Or AMSR will do it once she can make it work....
