Registry Information about resources published by IoA
This list has been compiled using VOExplorer and a list which selects those sources where Indetifier contains 'uk.ac.cam.ast' or 'org.astrogrid' or 'astrogrid.cam'.
It looks unnecessary to have all these registries.
Status queried on: Nov 14, 2007
Datasets (uk.ac.cam.ast)
- 2dfGRS. Two entries. Contact: Guy Rixon. Status: up
- The further information link does not work (it is missing the last '/' but only goes to the DSA installation page).
- No UCDs in columns
- IPHAS Inital Data Release Catalogue and Images. (catalogue: three entries, images: two entries). Contact: Eduardo Gonzalez. Status: working
- For some reason the cone search appears in red in VOExplorer.
- CMC14 (Carslberg Meridian Circle photometric & astrometric catalogue of 100m stars). Three entries. Contact: Eduardo Gonzalez. Status: working
- No description.
- The further information link does not work.
- INT WFS Data Quality Control database. Three entries. Contact: Guy Rixon. Status: working
- The further information link does not work (it is missing the last '/' but only goes to the DSA installation page anyway).
- There is a INT-WFS catalogue of observations which is only a TDB and should be removed.
- INT WFS merged object catalogue. Three entries. Contact: Guy Rixon. Status: working
- This is only a small subset of the WFS catalogue (17m objects) and should be noted somewhere.
- The further information link does not work (it is missing the last '/' but only goes to the DSA installation page).
- INT WFS images. Two entries. Contact: Guy Rixon. Status: working
- Further information page goes to a rather technical page.
- SWIRE catalogues. Two entries (there is no cone search). Contact: Eduardo Gonzalez. Status: working
- Last public release of the Spitzer SWIRE catalogues.
- There is no information about the service. No information about tables but UCDs are present.
- TPM N-Body DM Halo Catalogue. Two entries (no cone search). Contact: Nic Walton. Status: up
- There is no information about what this is.
- Further information link does not work.
Datasets (org.astrogrid)
There are a lot of entries here most of them at JBO but some at IoA. Also several tests, not set and 'Who Am I' application.
- FIRST object catalogue. Five entries all registered at IoA. Status: up
- No description.
- Wrong further information link.
- There are two instances of this. One with contact Kona Andrews and other with contact Paul Harrison.
Applications (uk.ac.cam.ast)
- SWIRL Script. Contact: Guy Rixon. Status: up
- Further information link does not work.
- PEGASE. Contact: Guy Rixon. Status: up
Applications (astrogrid.cam)
- Brute force and ignorance should be removed. Contact: Guy Rixon. Status: up
- Default DSA running test should be removed. Contact: astrogrid_dsa@star.le.ac.uk. Status: down
- Montage and various related tasks. Contact: Guy Rixon. Status: up but looks like not working . Bruce already said at ADASS that they were taking down the service and replacing it . Need to investigate how to connect with the new one.
Summary
All services in working condition. Datasets need filling some additional information and for all of them (except IPHAS) the further information link does not go to the correct page. This needs correcting, maybe by upgrading DSA? There are several entries for the same service but this is a known issue.

Concerning uk.ac.cam.ast vs. astrogrid.org vs. astrogrid.cam
There is only one registry in Cambridge and it manages two authorities:
uk.ac.cam.ast and
astrogrid.cam. The former relates to resources published by
IoA (generally by CASU). The latter refers to resources published by
AstroGrid at Cambridge independently of
IoA.
The
astrogrid.org resources that have URLs pointing to Cambridge machines were published at a registry in Leicester. They should all be services. I would be happy to see these replaced by
uk.ac.cam.ast resources. There will remain
astrogrid.org resources, published in Leicester, that are applications offered by services in Cambridge.
We should remember that there are many services for test and development running on machines in Cambridge. This will continue. From December, when we have more servers to work with, I hope to separate the
AstroGrid and
IoA services by physical host. As part of this work, I expect that all the production stuff will move to
uk.ac.cam.ast and the test stuff will disappear from the production registry. I will need advice concerning edge cases such as FIRST.
