Astrogrid SIAP

Just some space for me to add thoughts, progress etc. as I look at adding a SIAP service to Astrogrid.

Background

• Late April tasked with developing SAIP service.
  • Perl SIAP service already written by GuyRixon.
  • CFITSIO library seems fundamental, but only available in perl, python
  • Perl plugin for eclipse available, http://e-p-i-c.sourceforge.net/, installed and looking at code.
  • Became obvious as non-perl developer that another approach would be needed if I didn't want to learn new language! Will also aid maintainability.

• Early June - taking JAVA approach, looking to see if feasible

• 22/6/06 Meeting with Kona:
  • Pointers to code in CVS, lots of suggestions, general overview.
