IoA Meeting, September 28th 2007
Presents: Stephen Smartt, David Young (QUB), Alasdair Allan, Guy Rixon, Nic Walton, Eduardo Gonzalez (AstroGrid)
The main topic of this meeting was to discuss the work to be undertaken by Astrogrid for this project and define the VOEvent related part of the data flow. Alasdair Allan agreed to work on the VOEvent part and several issues where identified which led to modification of the original data flow picture -- new file available here:
ps1_workflow2.pdf. The three final processes, VOEvent publication, database ingestion and web page publishing can be done independently and in parallel. It was noted that MOPS will generate a different ID for each transient which can be propagated and used to link the VOEvent with the entry in the database. We need however to see how to reference different events for the same physical object.
We discussed the difference between running the job periodically or continuously. We decided that periodically is what we need. The number of times depends on how MOPS is updated. Maybe a MOPS update can trigger the process if MOPS can communicate with us and tell us that it has been updated.
We agreed to start the work without the need of knowing exactly how we will get the data from MOPS. At this effect Stephen will provide a list of SN to start with the cross match process.
ACTION: Guy to suggest some hardware to deploy the services.
ACTION: Alasdair to contact David with relevant Perl script for VOEvent publication.
ACTION: Stephen to send Eduardo a list of SN for cross matching.
ACTION: Eduardo to start the cross matching part.
