A page for collecting and commenting on the names for concepts or things in the
SchoolGrid arena.
Usage guide: use level 2 headings (---++) for the concept and level 3 headings (---+++) for the proposed name.
Contents:
Project Name
SchoolGrid
A new name is needed rather than schoolgrid - this is already in use by a commercial education portal - see
http://www.schoolgrid.net/.
SchoolSpace
SchoolSpace: everyone okay with this one?
My suggestion would be
School Space and I suggest that
PPARC register
http://www.schoolspace.org.uk as soon as possible. I think this is nicely represents the idea of putting space science and astronomy into schools, but at the same time represents a 'virtual' space for schools which enables online collaboration. -- Nic
EdGrid
EdGrid?: this keeps the 'grid' idea which might be nice; short and easy to say

SpaceGrid
SpaceGrid?: the domain
http://www.spacegrid.org is taken but looks like by a project which has just finished. We might see if we can take it over. They might like to see the name live on if we agree to host the existing site.

VOSpace
The VOSpace concept relates to providing each registered user (every school student, teacher etc) with personal storage space for files, database tables, worksheet templates, job results etc.
MySchoolSpace
MySchoolSpace: proposed by Nic (maybe good for a possible future KS2 implementation) and sort of ties up with
AstroGrid's implementation called
MySpace
SpaceJunk
SpaceJunk: okay, a bit naff but short, jokey - might appeal to secondary school kids
CollaboratorySpace?
another suggest (from Nic) - idea of a space for a project team to collaborate in
bit of a mouthful
or, simply,
CoLaboratory?: there's been some work on this in other e-Science projects

DeepSpace
DeepSpace?: another spacey idea; easy, short and memorable; idea of limitless space which is sort of what we want to get across in the VOSpace concept (okay, so they'll only get a few Mb each but it's nice to dream)
non serious ones
BlackHole: might be more appropriate considering the usual state of my own disk drives
