How to add a new user

Leicester users

First, the new user will need to apply for a Computer Centre account, and a Starlink account. The Computer Centre will allocate a login name, for example abc123.

All users

Add to astrogrid_contacts

On happy, as root, run the following command.

/local/bin/ezmlm/ezmlm-sub /var/qmail/alias/lists/astrogrid_contacts abc123@star.le.ac.uk

Create account on uluru

On uluru, as root, run the following command.

adduser -G cvs -c 'Adam B Charlie' -u 654 -m abc123

where 654 is the user's numeric UID on the Starlink system.

A similar command can be used on katatjuta.
