ScienceProblem: CoronalMassEjectionTrigger

PrimaryActor:

Solar Astronomer

ScienceGoal:

Gain an understanding of what initiates a CoronalMassEjection (CME).

DataSets:

SolarAndHelioSphericObservatory (SOHO) and TransitionRegionAndCoronalExplorer (TRACE) instrumentation.

Flux rope ejection may be a by product of the mechanism that causes CMEs; there could be others. How does this case differ from a filament eruption? What are the features used to identify what obervations should be selected. Which SOHO obervations are needed; are ground based data needed?

Need to expand this case. Could be a key Solar driver. How does one identify the initial search criteria.
