Data providers
User is presented with data quality information from telescope logs, instrument issues, and level of data processing flags.
User has obtained a list of potential data sets from a catalogue search.
1. User presses "Get Data Quality Information" button next to selected dataset.
2. Web service searches data provider for telescope log (if data ground-based observeration), instrument issues, and level of data processing flags.
3. Information is returned and displayed under the headings "Telescope Log Information", "Instrument Issues", and "Level of Data Processing". If no information exists for a particular topic, "No data available" is listed under the appropriate heading.
User receives data quality information or "no data available" message for selected dataset.
Data provider can make the following information files available and accessible through a web service:
1.
Telescope log: List of weather conditions, air mass, time/date, technical instrument / detector statistics, data configuration (spectra, image, etc), identity of observer. Available for ground-based observations only.
2.
Instrument Issues: Short text file to be created for ground or satellite based instruments listing known technical issues, limitations, and recommended data processing corrections. (Such a file probably does not yet exist for most instruments.)
3.
Level of Data Processing Flag: Indication as to whether the dataset is raw data, pipeline products, or highly processed data (if processed, who, where, and what programs did the processing).
